Food Lovers Market in Willowbridge has been a proud supporter of the Durbanville Children’s Home since 2016. Every week, the store contributes fresh produce which goes towards filling 144 young tummies. As with all of the organisations that we support, government funding does not meet the day to day requirements for the provision of healthy nutrition, and the involvement of Food Lovers Market Willowbridge ensures that these vulnerable children are never hungry.
Johanna Strauss, the manager of the home, chatted with our Earth Lovers Team. She told us “Through your (Food Lovers Market’s) assistance, our children received monthly food donations, special treats on Christmas and pleasant surprises in their lunch boxes, making them feel special and cared for. We salute the work Food Lovers Market is doing to create a better tomorrow for children.”
Ruan De Villiers, manager of the Willowbridge store says, “It’s important to be involved in local organisations and Durbanville Children’s Home is a great partner for us. I have been to the home myself, when we donated the giant pumpkin, and have seen how happy and well looked after the children all are. It makes me proud to know that in some small way we have contributed to the success of the home.”
