Food Lover’s Radio celebrates 100 episodes of the Colleague Radio Show

Last week Food Lover’s Radio celebrated 100 episodes of the in-store radio show, hosted by Kate Marais and produced by Terri Coppin. The Colleague Show was born out of the need to share business news with teams and as a platform to educate, spread joy and inspire.

The radio show has been fundamental in sharing hope, continuously reminding the teams of COVID-19 protocols as well as offering help and support during the uncertainty of the pandemic.

Says Terri CoppinFood Lover’s Market Manager of Colleague Engagement, “The idea for the radio show came from our first colleague survey.  Every team member contributed anonymously by sharing their thoughts and opinions, and we used this feedback to implement changes in our business.  The data told us that our colleagues want to know more about company news and human resources information, such as benefits available to them. So, we began work on a radio show as a platform to communicate this information with our teams.”

“In a hard push to get going, we invited Kate Marais to be the voice and presenter of the show, with the idea of appointing someone else when we found the right person – but the right person was Kate.”

The radio show plays early on a Friday morning, before the door opens for customers – and is repeated on Mondays. For office-based team members, the Colleague Show is shared via WhatsApp and email.

Says Andrew Millson – Food Lover’s Market Director of HR and Sustainability, “What an incredible milestone – I cannot believe it is 100 shows already. Kate has done such a wonderful job and, as the voice of the Colleague Show, is recognised as the ‘Radio Lady’ by teams across the country.

“Terri Coppin has also done an incredible job, working so hard behind the scenes and creating a wonderful channel for our colleagues. They have both made such a fundamental difference in the day-to-day working lives of our colleagues.”

A colleague from Food Lover’s Market Head Office concludes, ”During level 5 and 4 lockdown, we were working from home exclusively and, knowing our colleagues were on the shop floor every day, I would play the radio show every Friday at home. Listening to the Colleague Show helped me feel connected to the teams in the store doing the best they could every day, to be of service to our business and our customers through the pandemic. It certainly helped with the isolation to hear Kate’s cheery voice, and the happy voices of our colleagues doing shout-outs and sharing inspirational words.”

The radio show is produced and distributed by Audioscapes Corporate Broadcasting.
